Angelina Leonardo Detore, a cherished mother, grandmother, and beloved member of her community, passed away on April 29, 2023, at the age of 96. She was born on November 25, 1926, in Orange, New Jersey, to Pasquale and Amelia Leonardo (nee Corona). Angelina was the youngest of their seventeen children, born into a loving and bustling family.
Angelina's parents, Pasquale and Amelia, immigrated to the United States from Italy in the early 1900s, seeking a better life for their family. Growing up in the vibrant Italian-American community, Angelina inherited a rich heritage and strong family values that she carried throughout her life.
In 1966, Angelina made a new home for herself in Florida, where she resided until her passing. She embraced her new surroundings and built lasting connections with those around her. Angelina was known for her warm and giving nature, always willing to lend a helping hand and share her love through her delicious cooking. Her culinary skills were legendary, and her family and friends were treated to countless feasts filled with her homemade Italian specialties.
Angelina's legacy lives on through her two loving children, John Detore Jr of West Palm Beach and Vita Santiesteban of Homestead. She was immensely proud of her family, and her greatest joy came from the presence and happiness of her three grandchildren: Theodore Santiesteban of Lakeland, along with his wife Melinda, and Christian (Chrissy) Bruno and William (Billy) Santiesteban of Homestead. Angelina's four great-grandchildren, Angelina Santiesteban, Elise Santiesteban, Matthew Morris, and Vita Bruno, brought immense joy to her life.
Throughout her life, Angelina pursued various endeavors. She worked as a seamstress for many years, showcasing her talent and attention to detail. Later in life, she embarked on a new chapter and found fulfillment as a clerk at the Broward County Courthouse. Angelina dedicated herself to her work, retiring at the age of 70 to fully embrace the joys of life alongside her beloved husband.
Angelina Leonardo Detore was a woman of remarkable spirit, embodying kindness, love, and an infectious zest for life. Her presence illuminated every room she entered, and her laughter was a beacon of joy. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
