I want to remember my dad as the fun-loving person he always was to us. Growing up, my father taught me everything I know. Whether it was fixing something around the house or learning how to be a man, he was my first and best teacher.
If I ever had a problem, I knew I could call him. He wouldn't just give me one solution; he’d give me three different ways to fix it. That was just who he was, always ready to help, always dedicated to his family
In thinking about the man he was a provider and a teacher. I want to reference Proverbs 14:26:
“Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for their children, it will be a refuge.”
My dad was that fortress for us. He was our refuge. We will miss his advice, his humor, and his strength.
Dad showed us what true strength looks like. He fought every single day for decades. He struggled with medical conditions, but he never let those issues get the best of him. While others sadly passed away during his many years of dialysis, he kept fighting.
My father’s passing has given me a new perspective on life. It has given me the motivation to make changes for the better, for myself and for my loved ones. I want to honor his legacy by being the kind of person he was.
I also want to reference 2 Timothy 4:7:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
Dad, you finished your race. You will forever live through us with the memories we’ve all experienced with you.
I’ll miss the buddy’s, macho’s, and the papi’s.
Thank you, Dad, for everything. We love you.
