Alma your bright smile will be Forever in our hearts.
Hello,
I hope by sharing a few of my special memories of Alma & her family, that it will lighten your heart & leave you with a smile.
I met Alma & the rest of the Solano family through Martin when I was in Elementary school. Growing up, Martin was one of my best friends; we walked home from school together & hung out all the time. (back then Donna was a toddler). I stayed over Martin's parents house (pretty much every weekend), and occasionally would see Mr. Solano (he worked a lot & got home later in the evening). I remember Mr. Solano, telling Martin & I to be quite & go to sleep! lol
Mrs. Solano, Chachi, & Alma, were very special to me. If I remember correctly, Mrs. Solano was my 1st Cub Scout Leader. She was truly a wonderful lady who treated me like I was one of her own kids. Alma, & Chachi also had hearts of Gold. Everyone in the Solano family, including Martin treated me like I was part of their family. It was either Alma or Chachi who gave me the family nick name of Gillian. lol We all had a good laugh over that one.
Before Jorge became famous & married Angie (like the rest of the family, Angie was always very nice to me), Martin & I used to listen to Jorge crack jokes (sometimes about Martin & I). lol
I can still remember Alma laughing on many occasions & her listening to her favorite Columbian music inside their house. I also remember Alma walking down my block when she worked for Publix, to include occasionally walking with Donna when they went to the Westchester Mall.
One day while riding in the back seat of their family car, (I believe we were going to Diana's Baptizim) if I remember correctly, it was Alma who asked me to hold her cigarette (knowing smoking was bad for her), I gently blew on the lit end of her cigarette trying shorten it as fast as possible without getting caught. lol
Many years later, while serving in the military & stationed in California, I was visiting with Alma & met Jennifer for the 1st time; she was 16. When I mentioned to Jennifer I was Gillian, her face lit up & we all laughed because Jennifer now knew who Gillian was.
Alma will be greatly missed by all who knew her. I believe Alma is still with us spirituality & resting in peace with the rest of her family who is in Heaven. May they all RIP & never be forgotten.
Alma was a very special lady who
would want all of us to remember the good times we shared with her. What were some of your fond memories of Alma?
With Love, Sincerely & Respectfuly,
Tony (Gillian) & Gladys Newman
