Alice Haupt Wilburn's Obituary
Alice Haupt Wilburn, 96, died peacefully in Cutler Bay, FL., on August 23, 2021. She was born in Roanoke, Virginia on July 30, 1925. She was the daughter of the late George B. and Ethel M. Haupt. Alice was predeceased by her husband Gordon Wilburn, daughter Nancy Gail Gordon, brothers George, Earl, Ralph, William, Robert; and sisters Jean Damewood and Betty Ruth Nappier. She is survived by sister Joan (Bud) Miles of Omaha, NE., and many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her daughters, Janice Tharpe (Barnie) of Conyers, GA; and Carol Mainieri (Steve) of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren, Chris Gordon, Jennifer Potts (Scott), Christy Banks, and Patrick Mainieri (Tracy); great-grandchildren, Hope Snyders, Grace Potts, Aubrie Banks, Ashley Banks, and Evelynn Mainieri.
Alice married Gordon Wilburn in 1945 and had three daughters – Nancy Gail, Janice Ann, and Carol Jo. Alice was a faithful wife to Gordon for over 70 years, throughout his career as a U.S. Navy airman and airline pilot, and completed much relocation throughout the United States. She was active in sports and loved to play golf. She was devoted to her children. She also volunteered her time at Homestead Hospital and made many friends.
Private arrangements are entrusted to Branam Funeral Home in Homestead, FL and the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL.
